International migration and development – Report of the Secretary-General United Nations
In resolution 63/225, the General Assembly decided to hold a high-level dialogue on international migration and development during its sixty-eighth session. In resolution 65/170, the Assembly invited relevant organizations to contribute to the report of the Secretary-General. The Secretary-General was also requested to report on the effects of migration on economic and social development in countries of origin and destination (A/67/219). The introduction to the present report provides a broad overview of progress made in addressing migration challenges since 2006, the year of the first High-level Dialogue on International Migration and Development. It also proposes some key issues to be taken up by the high-level dialogue to be held in 2013.
