ICoMiR: International Conference on Migration and Refuge
The International Conference on Migration and Refuge (ICoMiR) is a global platform convened by the Scalabrinian Centre for Migration Studies (CSEM) to foster qualified dialogue on migration, refuge, statelessness, and contemporary human mobility.
Held on a biennial basis, ICoMiR brings together academics, migrant and refugee representatives, civil society organizations, pastoral actors, international agencies, and public authorities. Its purpose is to create a shared space where research, lived experience, policy debates, and field practice can meaningfully intersect.

Since its inception, ICoMiR has distinguished itself by intentionally bridging different epistemologies and sectors. The conference does not operate solely as an academic gathering; rather, it integrates research production with social commitment, migrant protagonism, and institutional engagement. Working Groups and plenary sessions are designed to encourage dialogue across disciplines and roles, strengthening collaborative networks and generating forward-looking perspectives on mobility and rights.
Each edition reflects the pressing global challenges of its time while maintaining a consistent commitment to human dignity, diversity, and the promotion of rights for people on the move.
