Recent multilateral reports have confirmed that, in recent years, the presence of international migrants in the so-called more economically developed countries has increased significantly. According to the UN1, in 2000, of the 174.9 million people living outside their country of birth, 110.3 million - 63% of the total - lived in Northern countries (including the former USSR). This is new compared to the past, as until 1980 the majority of foreigners lived in countries of the South. Today, 8.71% of the population of developed countries is foreign, compared to 3.41% in 1960.
