3rd International Conference of the CSEM

From May 19 to 22, 2025, Brasilia will host the III International Conference of the Scalabrinian Center for Migration Studies (CSEM), a global reference event that will bring together researchers, migrant and refugee leaders, civil society organizations, pastoralists, government representatives and international organizations.

With the theme "Dialogues to understand, humanize and value people on the move", the conference proposes a plural, critical and inclusive look at contemporary migration, with a focus on South-North and South-South flows. The initiative seeks to deepen the debate on the challenges and opportunities of human mobility, promoting an approach centered on human rights and valuing the trajectories and contributions of migrants and refugees.

The bilingual program (Portuguese and English, with simultaneous translation) will include Thematic Groups, Colloquia, debate tables and spaces for interdisciplinary dialogue. Among the topics covered are access to rights, inclusive public policies, intersectionalities and the work of support networks for people on the move. Held by the Scalabrinian Center for Migration Studies (CSEM) - an international institution based in Brasilia that has been working since 1988 to produce knowledge on human mobility.
