Practical Guide to Employment for Migrants and their Families

Since 1991, the Honduran Catholic Church has adopted strategies to support migrants and their families through the Pastoral de Movilidad Humana (PMH). This Pastoral, which assists various people in situations of movement, is organized in 10 dioceses nationwide. The main objective of the PMH, according to its Strategic Plan for the period 2020-2026, is to empower people on the move to defend their rights and seek solutions to their needs, while collaborating with the government in the development of effective public policies.

The PMH's mission is to raise awareness, promote protagonism and citizen participation in defending the human rights of people on the move. The Pastoral works with different vulnerable groups, including returned migrants, relatives of missing migrants, migrants with physical disabilities, victims of violence and human trafficking.

One of the key programs of the PMH is the area of entrepreneurship and livelihoods, which aims to help people obtain or expand their employment and income, especially through micro-enterprises. This is achieved through training, financial support and guidance over a period of at least a year, enabling people to strengthen their life projects.

This volume presents the systematization of a valuable experience carried out by the Hermanas MSCS in Honduras, described by Nyzelle Dondé. The content of this book is in Spanish and is a testimony to the efforts made in this context.

This practical guide on entrepreneurship for migrants and their families was drawn up based on the experience of the PMH. It seeks to consolidate the methodology for supporting beneficiaries, ensuring transparency in the processes and promoting the socio-economic reinsertion of people in situations of vulnerability. The guide focuses on the essential aspects of starting and maintaining a successful business and offers 8 training modules that are essential for entrepreneurship. It also provides tools to strengthen the mental health of entrepreneurs, promoting a healthy and balanced life.
