According to the available data, Portuguese emigration remained at a high level in 2014: as in 2013, more than 110,000 Portuguese left the country. The 2015 edition ofFactbook<\/em> includes a systematization of the main data from the 2000\/01 and 2010\/11 censuses on the sociodemographic characteristics of the Portuguese immigrant populations in OECD countries. <\/div>\n

In 2014, Portuguese emigration remained high. As in 2013, more than 110,000 Portuguese left the country. The persistence of these high volumes of departures over the last five years has resulted in an increase in the number of Portuguese emigrating around the world, which, according to United Nations data, exceeded 2.3 million individuals in 2015. The tendency for emigration to stabilize at a high level is in line with the evolution of remittances received in Portugal between 2013 and 2014. While in the two previous years their value rose significantly, by 13% and 10% respectively, in 2014 the growth observed in nominal terms was only 1%. This quasi-stabilization was achieved, however, with the highest nominal values of the entire period after joining the euro.<\/div>\n
