Globalization provides a strong stimulus for migration, since it intensifies the flow of information about living standards and opportunities in industrialized countries, but this stimulus is not accompanied by an increase in opportunities. If, on the one hand, the flow of capital and goods is encouraged, on the other, restrictions on the flow of people increase. Globalization is thus a process that segregates, selects and excludes.

To reflect on these issues, the Graduate Program in Development, Society and International Cooperation of the Center for Advanced Multidisciplinary Studies of the University of Brasilia and the Scalabrinian Center for Migration Studies present the book Migration policy and the paradox of globalization, which has just been published in an electronic version by EDIPUCRS and Editora CSEM.

The publication, which is the result of the international seminar held in April 2014, was organized by Ana Maria Nogales Vasconcelos and Tuíla Botega and will soon also be released in print.
