"Towards a broader understanding of forced migration" - Review n° 96 - 3rd quarter 2014 -Tuíla Botega

Human mobility in the current context of globalization, especially with regard to international migration, is marked by a greater diversification of flows and types of migrants (labour migrants, skilled or unskilled, students, asylum seekers and refugees). Realities such as the conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Africa, child migrants in Central America, the arrival of Haitian migrants and African refugees in Brazil, among others, highlight situations of vulnerability to which forced migrants are exposed and also highlight the risk of falling into false protection networks, which can lead to serious situations of exploitation.
