Almost 50% of companies in Peru have Venezuelan workers

A study carried out in our country revealed the employment situation of foreign citizens living in our country.

The phenomenon of the migration of Venezuelan citizens, which has brought more than 859,000 Venezuelan citizens to our country, has generated a series of changes.

One of them, and perhaps the most important, has been in the labor field and the way in which companies have made changes in hiring staff and adapting regulations to these new employees.

The study 'Retos y oportunidades de la migración en el sector empresarial peruano', developed by Aptitus and the NGO Acción contra el Hambre, showed that 90% of the number of foreigners in Peru are of working age.

Regarding the companies and the hiring of staff, it was known that around 50% of them have Venezuelan professionals, according to Alejandra Fonseca, manager of Aptitus.

The research also revealed that 48.2% of businesspeople are unaware of the procedures for formally hiring foreign citizens and 32.4% of the businesspeople surveyed - who have worked with Venezuelan professionals - believe that the experience has been rewarding and would therefore recommend it to other companies.

However, there are results that show that there are employers who prefer not to hire foreign staff, 41% of them indicate that they opt for local hiring, 27.9% do not specify, 22.1% do not consider this option and 9% do not know about the legal framework.

"Entrepreneurs should consider the aptitudes, skills and competencies of their employees above any type of job. Human capital is the main generator of value for organizations, which in turn will generate innovation and long-term profitability," said Fonseca.
