30 years after it was founded, the Ángeles de la Frontera project has supported thousands of migrants and saved their lives with altruistic actions such as guidance, food and water in the desert.
Although the number of people in this migratory condition over this time cannot be determined exactly, the Baja California coordinator of the civil organization, Hugo Castro, says that hundreds, almost thousands, of lives have been saved.
"Their deaths during their journey have been prevented by placing water tanks along the migratory routes of this binational border, and we have also prevented migrant kidnappings, which is what we have supported the most," he said.
With several programs under its belt, Ángeles de la Frontera is the cause of events in which up to two thousand 500 people have gathered, bringing water to the desert and arid areas typical of these borderlands, he said.
Free migration lawyers in downtown San Diego, California and in Tijuana; the SOS Migrante program and SOS Migrante "Adopta un Albergue", are some of the assistance programs to provide the necessary support to these groups.
The coordinator of the international civil organization said that they are also starting the Embajada Migrante project and the first workshop in Ángeles de la Frontera in Mexico, a place that has functioned as a hostel for 25 years.
Aunque lamentó que en todo ese tiempo no le haya brindado a este proyecto ningún tipo de apoyo, dijo que a través del programa SOS Migrante se ha decidido adoptar el albergue para brindarle otro giro.
He indicated that the Embajada Migrante project is the first of its kind in the northwest of the country, for migrants, whether they are deportees, Mexicans, Central Americans or refugees looking for a place to stay.

"Strong material resources are needed to be able to prepare the structure, because part of it is damaged, but we can turn it into a dignified place for our migrant brothers and sisters and also a place where the Mexican dream begins", he explained.
He said that this project aims to go beyond a hostel; "it will be a refuge to provide all the tools, to have the Mexican dream, everyone talks about the American dream, but there is also the Mexican dream, and we are fighting for it".
Migrants can be given all the tools, "so that they can go forward with their own wings, even if they are victims of forced migration, all they need is support and we will give it to them".
