This book is the result of the extension course Lives in Transit: knowing and reflecting from the perspective of human mobility, held in 2013 by the Scalabrinian Center for Migration Studies (CSEM) in partnership with the Graduate Program in Comparative Studies on the Americas of the Center for Research and Graduate Studies on the Americas (PPG-CEPPAC) and the Graduate Program in Development, Society and International Cooperation of the Center for Advanced Multidisciplinary Studies (PPG-DSCI-CEAM), both at the University of Brasilia.

The various aspects of the migration phenomenon, both domestically and internationally, such as gender, religion, the integration of migrants, among others, are dealt with from different disciplinary approaches. The book also brings the richness of the migrant's perspective.
