Spirituality of a people on the move: elements for a spirituality in the context of migration.

Analita Candaten, MSCS

One of the challenges is to be able to accompany the impetuous and complicated zeal [of the theoretical and practical polysemy of the migratory phenomenon], with a vision of spirituality that is fruitful and in dialogue with the real evolution of situations and emerging challenges. Fragments of spirituality to be used and adapted to people on the move - foreigners, guests, pilgrims, missionaries, deportees, traders, etc. - are found in the Bible and throughout the history of Christianity, with specific characteristics according to the situations and phenomena. Today, a global revisiting is called for, from the origins to new experiences, so that we don't just live out of generalized benevolence towards this mass of people, but manage to motivate those who migrate and those who meet migrants, a spiritually robust and meaningful style of relating, getting to know, integrating and evangelizing.
Sister Analita proposes a global interpretation of Spirituality for a people on the move, which can help us to live and accompany the phenomenon of this immense migration of peoples, and to make an excellent biblical, ecclesial and spiritual reading.
