Slave labor, gender and migration

ep.03 3Contemporary slave labor is a phenomenon typical of the production processes we are experiencing at the current stage of capitalist development, not just in Brazil, but in all regions of the world.

Among the many points of analysis on the subject that merit attention are a look at mobile populations and the conditions of vulnerability that expose workers to the risks of this type of exploitation.

In this episode of the “Migration in Focus” podcast, Vitor Camargo interviews Natália Suzuki, coordinator of the education program “Slavery, no way!”, run by the NGO Repórter Brasil, and a PhD candidate in political science at USP. The conversation is based on the study “Slave labor and gender: who are the enslaved workers in Brazil?”, published by Repórter Brasil, to reflect on the results of the research from the perspective of migration and gender studies.
