Spiritual profile of a strong woman: Blessed Assunta Marchetti

Leocádia Ortolan Mezzomo

It is with great joy that we make the book available here on the CSEM website:  Spiritual profile of a strong woman: Blessed Assunta Marchetti - translated into Portuguese, Spanish and English. In this simple work, we are invited to follow in the footsteps of a simple and humble woman, yet deeply strong in faith and ardent in charity.

Assunta Caterina was born in Italy and at the age of 24 she became a “migrant with the migrants” to be the Mother of orphans and the abandoned in Brazil. As a religious missionary in Brazil, she lived a life marked by charity and special care for orphans, migrants and the sick. She placed all her trust in the loving Heart of Jesus and with total confidence in Divine Providence.

Her witness inspires us to believe that holiness is possible and that it is born and grows in everyday life, in humble and hidden service. She was a highly persevering missionary in the face of life's difficulties, anointed as she was with the strength of the Spirit.

The Church recognized in Mother Assunta Marchetti the heroic way she lived her virtues and the many graces and miracles that happened through her intercession. For this reason, she was beatified on October 25, 2014, in the Cathedral of the Cathedral in São Paulo, SP.

The Congregation of the Scalabrinian Missionary Sisters, of which Assunta Marchetti is a co-founder, remains active, working with migrants and refugees, particularly among children and women in vulnerable situations.

Their witness remains inspiring for today's generations: especially for those who live on borders, in extreme vulnerability, struggling with dignity, without losing faith, hope and love.

May reading this book help us to learn more about his life and, above all, to follow in his footsteps, so that we too can be God's instruments with the most fragile and abandoned in the world of Human Mobility.
