On the occasion of the celebrations for the Scalabrinian Year 2021-2022, in which we commemorate the 25th anniversary of the beatification of John Baptist Scalabrini, we want to deepen our reflection on his charism and legacy, which still inspires many people today. It is a “re-cording”, because it involves the “heart”; it is a “co-memoration”, because it is a collective, community memory-making; it is a “re-vivification”, because it is a living legacy, from which life springs and which must be constantly revitalized and practiced.
The seminar becomes even more challenging after Scalabrini's canonization on October 9, 2022, which attests to the relevance and urgency of the legacy of the Scalabrinian charism, especially with regard to the commitment to migrants and refugees.
