CONGREGATION OF THE SCALABRINIAN MISSIONARY SISTERS OF SAINT CARLOS BORROMEO
The Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo Scalabrinians was founded in Piacenza, Italy, on October 25, 1895. Its founder is Blessed John Baptist Scalabrini and as co-founders: Blessed Assunta Marchetti and the Venerable Servant of God Father Giuseppe Marchetti. The Congregation has its general headquarters in Rome, Italy. It consists of six provinces, 576 sisters and carries out its mission among migrants and refugees in 25 countries on four continents. Its mission is evangelical and missionary service to migrants, preferably the poorest and most vulnerable (cf. Const. pg. 13, n. 5).
The MSCS Sisters carry out their mission in schools, hospitals, orphanages, prisons, reception centers for needy minors, retirement homes, formation houses, ethnic-cultural communities, parishes, dioceses, bishops' conferences, international organizations, civil organizations, promotion centers, listening and reception centers for immigrants and study and documentation centers (Cf. website: www.scalabriniane.org).
