Pope Francis and Refugees. Forced migrations, Christian life and the ecclesial configuration in the contemporary world

Human mobility is one of Francis' defining themes as pastor of the Church. The privileged way in which he refers to migrants, displaced persons, refugees and those seeking international protection goes far beyond concerns about assisting those in situations of vulnerability and even the need to take care of promotion and integration. It has to do with the notion of the human being and interpersonal relationships in the mark of love and Christian faith. His interest in people in situations of mobility is theological and spiritual, it is symbolic and strategic and shows nuances and even imperatives about his vision of the God of Jesus, about aspects of his ecclesiology and anthropology, his understanding of Christian life and, finally, about his idea of society.
