The article briefly presents some traces of the human experience that the migratory phenomenon entails and which we simply call human trafficking, which includes the recruitment, deportation, confinement in private prison and forced labor and/or labor in conditions analogous to slavery, of people of both sexes, in the most varied sectors of the economy and not just in the field of sex for pay and entertainment. The second part provides reflections in the light of the deportation of the people of Israel and, after a brief historical excursus, the fourth part suggests elements of analysis that indicate to Christian communities, in the last part, interpretative clues and categories for understanding and intervening concretely to affect the reality of human trafficking, if not possible in prevention, but at least in assistance to the victims and in the collective awareness that, in itself, can prevent the phenomenon, as well as the impunity of exploiters, whether they are traffickers or clients.
