FRONTI AND FRONTIERE

The frontier is all in our test. There are no "natural" frontiers to be assumed as boundaries of state. It is relationships of force that generate, design and reproduce borders. Politicians move along frontiers that are built up, transformed into trenches, cabinets and perhaps even crumbling buildings. Frontiers make history and history prints its own frontiers. Of words, of letters, of spin-offs, of mining camps, of gender, of social classes and of religions. In the end, all of them are reprinted in the shrines and in the ostelli for the pellegrini. The borders are there, seemingly forever, as if to remember that life is a question of borders to cross. Some of these, in the Sahel of the two rivers, are, not for the first time, broken.

The Libyan authorities, via a press release, have announced their decision to close the border between Ciad and Niger for three months.. To combat the trafficking of arms, drugs, human beings and, above all, to stop informal migration towards Libya. Sudan has also taken a similar decision in the confrontation between these countries, especially Sudan, which was born thanks to the oil frontier. The operation on the Libyan border is called "the desert shield". A mobile frontier made up of means of transport, weapons and equipment that are useful for the categories it covers. A mobile frontier that is the armed armor of the outer edges of Europe.

Colonialism has invented and then traced the shadowy frontier with glass. Neoliberal capitalism, in the guise of egalitarian globalization, has created new walls and towers of democratic control.. They work to keep the poor out of the way and make the others who are grateful for their arrival part of the system. The latter are at the front if they are inside, in their eyes, in their hands and in their minds. They are the frontiers of people who stand where the others, those who are armed, cannot arrive. Migrants are frontiers that walk, climb, invent, are translated and then resist in order to create another world. They are cut off from the confines despite themselves and thanks to them, the frontier is spared another language.

Then he was born FrontexEurope's outer frontier, which for the time being is being built around the pressures of Agadez in Niger. This is where humanitarian rescue operations begin. The agencies that operate, as described by the control system, are the same ones that want to take human lives from the sea or the desert. A good example is provided by the International Organization for Migration. It manages humanitarian guidance centers, assists in the repatriation of volunteers, works for safe borders and even rescues migrants in the desert. He compares the border between humanitarian and utilitarian, the "surgical" bombings and the democratic invasions with the weapons sold to justify the borders that were set up.

Eucap, an agency that propagates the neo-colonial European landscape, has the mission of creating a new type of vision and management of the border. To this end, at a cost of millions of euros, it invests in training staff to manage passports, illegal trafficking and the fight against regional terrorism. These are cloned frontiers that are very similar to those that produce the system that is the final product of these frontiers.

Other frontiers are invisible and mark history in oppressors and oppressed in all geographies. We must, however, recognize those who want to transcend them. A new world will be made of them. They will be called blessed because their only frontier is a narrow passageway between two worlds.
