The Brazilian government granted 2,839 permanent work permits to foreigners in 2014, according to information contained in the Foreign Work Balance.

The purpose of this report is to present data on work permits granted to foreigners by the General Immigration Coordination Office (CGIg) and the National Immigration Council (CNIg) of the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) in 2014.

The Brazilian government granted 2,839 permanent work permits to foreigners in 2014, according to information contained in the Foreign Work Balance.

Of this total, 1,016 authorizations went to individual investors. For administrators, directors, managers and executives with management and concomitant powers, the sum was 1,728 and for 95 others.

Italians were the foreigners who received the most permanent work permits in the country (456), Japanese (404) and Portuguese (319). The main destinations were São Paulo (1,424), Rio de Janeiro (436), Ceará (234), Bahia (119) and 626 others.

The largest number of temporary permits was granted for work on board a foreign vessel or platform - 15,117 - and for foreigners as artists or sportspeople, with no employment relationship - 9,899.
