CSEM publishing house and organizers of the second volume of the Ecumene book series of the Call for Papers

The CSEM publishing house is opening a call for articles for the second volume of the Ecumene book series. This is an editorial initiative in alliance with the Latin American Confederation of Religious (CLAR), with the aim of promoting studies, research, events and publications on theology and human mobility, with a view to strengthening socio-pastoral work and providing material that is both scientifically rigorous and didactic for agents and scholars of the subject. With these publications, the CSEM also seeks to give visibility, streamline efforts and promote links between researchers and academics on the themes of migration and refugees, especially in the theological field.

The series takes place (and is especially designed) in the Latin American context. Texts from Latin American theological production in the United States and Canada will also be accepted. The theme of the first volume was "Human mobility, hospitality and Christian community", and the books will be published in Portuguese and Spanish. The volume, which began in the first semester of 2020, will be launched in the second semester of the year.

In this way, the organizers of the second volume of the cycle "Bible and Migration: human and saving experience" - Elizângela Chaves Dias, Scalabrinian Hermana, Doctor in Biblical Theology and professor at the Pontifical Urban University of Rome and Father Leonardo Agostini Fernandes, Doctor in Theology and professor at PUC - Rio, invite researchers, professors, postgraduate students and professionals in ecclesiastical contexts with the presence of a population in a situation of movement to collaborate in the production. The deadline for pre-registration, which is necessary for the subsequent submission of articles, is February 28, 2021, by sending an email to assessoria@csem.org.br with a copy to biblicoteologico33@gmail.com, with the information requested in the call.

Human displacements motivated by the search for survival or better living conditions and future, which traditionally stimulate reflection and motivate ecclesial charity and social justice, beyond comfort zones and physical and symbolic borders, taking on broader, more challenging and expressive contours. There has been an increase in two flows, a diversification of two profiles of migrants and refugees on the move and, above all, an increase in precarious living conditions and services for people who need to leave their lands and their contexts of life and relationships. In addition to the complexity and dramas of migration, attention is drawn to the contemporaneity of the crimes and barriers erected by actors who promote distorted narratives of the phenomenon of human movement.

The second volume of the series focuses on the different types of human movement, as a biblical-theological category, to deepen the reflection on the meaning of migration in the light of faith, motivating or calling for hospitality, support, promotion, integration and protagonism of migrants. Both volumes will be published in print and digital format, and the e-book will be available free of charge.
