Today, poverty and migration are two extremely broad, complex and challenging phenomena. The UN estimates that there are around 200 million international migrants worldwide. The number rises dramatically when internal migration and other forms of human mobility are taken into account. On the other hand, the FAO estimates that more than 850 million people live in chronic malnutrition. This begs the question: are there links between the two phenomena? If so, what are their characteristics?
