SEMINAR: “INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION AND HUMAN RIGHTS”
Brasília, May 8th to 10th 2008
International migration always emerges as a crucial subject for the people and Governments, because of its dimensions as well as its characteristics and potential.
CSEM - Centro Scalabriniano de Estudos Migratórios de Brasília and IOM – International Organization for Migration – Regional Office for the Southern Cone accomplish an International Seminar in May 2008 aiming to accomplish another important step in their compromise of a profound study and a qualified and articulated action in international migration field.
The Seminar “International Migration and Human Rights” seeks to offer an exchange of knowledge, with an interdisciplinary approach, concerning urgent and challenging related themes in order to reach a deeper comprehension of the migratory issue and concrete traces for the design of public policies and improvement of basic work along with international migrants.
The detailed proposal for the event, being attached, considers the perspective of a broad involvement of international representatives and specialists , with a special focus on the participation of the civil society, specially, the migrant’s associations, NGOs and the academia. In this sense, it offers the opportunity to continue the commenced reflexions of the last years.
Many thematic Working Groups will be presented in the third day of the Seminar, coordinated by specialists. The subscriptions of papers to be submitted are open for academic researchers as well as for meaningful practices. The dead line of submittance is March 31th following the indications in the attached document.
