The "Rede dos Centros de Estudos Migratórios Scalabrinianos – Rede CEMIS" (Scalabrinian Migration Studies Centers Network) is a libraries articulation that has a specialized bibliography on human mobility. Its collection is composed by newspapers, videos and national and international scientific magazines on migration, refuge and related subjects.

Goals:
CESMI has as its main goal on respect to a perspective that unite faith and life to offer knowledge, reflections and analysis of subjects on local, national and international migratory phenomena to MSCS Sisters, migrants, migratory pastoral agents, social and ecclesiastic movements and also people in general.

Foundation:
The centre was created in 1973 being part of the apostolate of the Province of Our Lady Aparecida – Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo – Scalabrinians. Its charisma is the offering of evangelical and missionary service to the migrants, especially to the impoverished and abandoned ones. Currently, CESMI has its own office in Sao Paulo – Brazil.

Activities:
CESMI follows two mainly paths: education and information. On the education arena, CESMI develops training activities such as meetings, seminars and consultancy to schools, lay scalabrinian groups, pastoral agents, voluntaries and communities engaged on the service for migrants, especially those where Our Lady Aparecida is: Brazil, Colombia, Honduras, Belgium and Ecuador.
On the information arena, CESMI distincts itself by books, audivisual and studybooks publication on specific human mobility subjects. Besides, CESMI elaborates printed material and multimedia in favor of subjects that embrace different subjects from scalabrinian spirituality to nowadays migrant life drama.

CESMI publishes a monthly electronic review with the main news about migration. CESMI also edits a quarterly bulletin, “Dispersos”, to inform and foment the discussion on the migratory phenomenon.
Three times a year CESMI produces the “CESMI Dossier” which deals with specific themes, developed and studied with a more profound and scientific approach.

Besides, CESMI, in its search for excellence of its work and services, is launching new materials:
“Comunicado CESMI” (CESMI Communication) is publicized in order to announce commemorations and special events. “Panorama CESMI” (CESMI Panorama) is an informative subsid that gives a human mobility panorama of countries where are the Irmãs da Província Nossa Senhora Aparecida: Brazil, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador e Belgium; and “O Amigo do Povo” (Peoples Friend): a magazine that gives a profound reflection on evangelical service and mission Charisma experience to migrants.

Solidary Network:
CESMI integrates MSCS’ Congregational Studies Centers network. With a spirit of solidarity and mutual help, it adds efforts to the other Provinces in order to help the sensitization Church and contemporary societies for Migratory Phenomena. As that, it hopes to contribute for the diffusion, operational aptitudes, dynamic and efficacy of Human Mobility Pastoral on behalf of migrant people and in the name of Jesus Pilgrim preconized fraternal sheltering.

CEMIC integrates the Province of the Immaculate Conception, Congregation of Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo (Scalabrinians).

Goals:
Be aware of nowadays migratory reality to the elaboration of socio-pastoral intervention measures, to advise communities and Province’s work, to produce studies and researches focused on localities where the Province is.
Collaborate with charlist-scalabrinian education trough specific courses. Furthermore, to produce studies and thoughts on educational stages subjects.
Publicize information on human mobility looking for a better integration and sheltering of migrants on their arrival into host communities.

Services:
CEMIC has a textbook and newspaper library of migration and related subjects such as pastorals, St. Charles, the Patron, the Well-adventured Founder and also co-founders biographies. Our services are organized and uptaded constantly.
The Center also has a publication sector working on translations and on the elaboration and editions of texts about charisma, life and the missions of the Congregation, its Patron, Founder and Co-Founders and also about human mobility.
Produces researches and studies about migratory reality in general with special attention to national, Latin America and Caribbean human mobility phenomena. It also work as a consultant to the elaboration of specific projects for social-pastoral areas.
Publicizes socio-religious and pluricultural religious information through its own and local communication means.
Produces and collaborates courses and meetings focused on human mobility and migratory pastoral reality.

GOALS:
1) To better understand human mobility and be aware of migratory phenomena;
2)Research, study, analysis and interpretation of human mobility realities;
3) To irradiate our specific mission as an answer to God, Congregation and the Church;

5) Articulate with Organisms, Research and Studies Centers and others in order to assure a pastoral service for migrant people;
6) Invest, update and organize a textbook and newspaper library on migration subjects.

SERVICES:
- Study, research, elaboration, editing and publication of specific material on migration;
- Shelter and attendance to students and migration interested people who goes to our Library looking for research and/or information;
- Monthly Radio Programs on Aliança Radio of Porto Alegre;
- Establish contacts with Consulates, frontier places (Mercosul Countries), Attendance and Orientation Centers for Migrant People, Shelters, etc;
- Monthly meetings for studies, reflections, actions, celebration and evaluation with the partnership of lay people and scalabrinian missionaries;
- Elaboration of “Folhetos” containing prays, guides and graphics useful for the pastoral
- Participation of Main Team of Migration Sector of III South Regional of CNBB and periodically meetings;
- Collaboration on the organization and scheduling of regional International Migrant Day Week Celebration;
- Maintenance of social pastoral work along with a lay missionaries group.
- Articulation of collaborators lay workgroup looking for possible partnerships and consultancies.

The Study and Documentation Centre is a pastoral, apostolic and missionary activity which is a part of the European Province of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo (Scalabrinians), and is an expression of the Scalabrinian charism.

Aims:
Promote the understanding, lightened by Scalabrini thought, of the cultural challenge posed by today’s migration to the public, ecclesial and social institutions, to the education agencies and to citizens in order to provide adequate answers. The centre intends to offer a place where migrant’s reflections and various studies, publications and events concerning migration are documented and stored.

CEDOMIS operates three main axes:

Library:
• Offers a complete collection of migration documentation sources;
• Produces migrant histories and migratory phenomena processes alternative sources;
• Collects expressive cultural materials produced by migrants, such as: objects, images, songs, music, carts and migrant writes;
• Disposes its collection through its own electronic program also available on web;

• Offers consultant services and accessorizes people and institutions studying migrations or related subjects.

Studies Center:
• Produces studies and researches in collaboration with public and private institutions and accomplishing CEDOMIS goals;
• Produces thematic studies on migration in European Provinces of Scalabrinian Missionary Sisters for those communities support;
• Develops activities for information and sensitization of the school environment.

Project’s Support:
• Produces knowledge and thematic insights researches about St. Joseph Province, Italy, action axes and physiognomy;
• Animates seminaries and educational events;
• Offers support for the context analysis and communitarian renewal and widening.

Services open to public:
• A library with 2.000 books about modern and contemporary migrations and about histories and cultures of countries around the world. Qualified public access to the collection is done through entries search and synopsis reading program;
• A section dedicated to magazines and specialized migration publications;
• A newspaper library with national news and also migrants produced materials;
• An everyday report about migration events in Italy;
• Professional support for users in theirs researches;
• Specialist Professional support users on the CEDOMIS collection material interpretation;
• Study seminars about migratory subject offered to Piacenza and neighborhood school students and teachers;
• Studies and researches produced by CEDOMIS about contemporary migratory phenomena.

CEDOMIS is managed by a team formed with a president, a director, MSCS Apostolate responsible Sister in St. Joseph Scalabrinian Missionary Sisters, some members of Provincial Directory and MSCS Sisters specialized and working directly on migratory subject area in Europe.

CEDEMI carries out its activities in co-operation with with ABCON –Central-north-west (Brasil) Beneficent Association Center, which belongs to the Province of Mary, Mother of Migrants and SPM – Migrant Pastoral Service.

GOALS:
To organize and offer to public in general a thorough bibliographical and documentation source for research and information in the field of migration that is available in its library. The centre also offers services of counseling, guidance, promotion and support for internal and foreign migrants. All this is offered by the section of the Centre which deals with documentation.

SERVICES:
CEDEMI distinguishes itself as a Centre of reflection and study, of research and analysis, of documentation and divulgation of themes related to social-cultural and theological-pastoral aspects of migration. It operates a specialist library on migration, a newspaper library and a counseling-assistance service to migrants.

Its activity in sócio-pastoral arena is extended to CESPAM – Centro Scalabriniano de Promoção e Apoio ao Migrante, in Jardim das Oliveiras neighbourood, Várzea Grande.
